but more often than not i look at their profiles and i see immediate red flags, or just straight up people boosting posts from instances i'm surprised they haven't nuked off the face of the earth yet (i.e. posts that say "it's fine to molest children irl")
but man. can you just... sign up to aethy or something y'all? i know mastodon is the face of fediverse, it's where i first signed up too back in 2017, but please recognize that it's not the only instance. especially for LSC, like, isn't that strictly not allowed on there in the first place?
important instance rules updateit's been brought to my attention that i've not phrased rule 7 the best. i've made it's explicit intentions much more clear.
for transparencies sake, here's what it used to read: This server is a celebration of all the weird freaky art, but we deplore any real-world actions the art we allow may sometimes depict. To put bluntly: We do not allow references to harmful paraphilias (i.e. MAPs, zoos, etc.), nor do we allow the iconography of any of those sects to be glorified. We do recognize people can not help their attractions, and are using art as a way to cope, and that is perfectly acceptable; but we do not allow the glorification of these attractions in the real-world.

Attempts to blur the lines with references to real-world paraphilias (that is made with unclear intentions of enabling real-world behaviors) isn't acceptable, this includes things such as iconography relating to paraphiles.

considering iceshrimp.net weirdly put a character limit on rules, i hope i made that clear enough. for all i know maybe that's what that one person was being weird about in my email all those months ago, but was being a jackass about it so they didn't communicate it well lmfao. (again, don't bite first)
either way, i do not mean to demonize paraphilias, that's the last thing i'd want to do. however there does need to be a firm and clear line on where the fiction and fantasy is, and where it starts leaking in to reality. and attempts from "pro-contact" paraphiles, who wish to ennact their attractions without due consent, muddy the waters a whole, whole lot, to say the least. and unfortunately, the safest avenue is to just steer clear of iconography of any sort. at least, that's how i view it all.
i will also be as transparent as i can be to say that i also have personal reasons for feeling iffy about the iconography; it's a sensitive subject that i'm not quite ready to open up about yet, as it delves into interweaving traumas that i still have not fully sorted out.
needless to say this is a touchy subject all around, and i should've been more clear from the start what my intentions were. i'm hoping i didn't dissuade anyone from this community with any of this, but if i did, my sincerest apologies.
