@puppy fwiw you should be fine playing the original trilogy on DS (emulators), it's just the remakes are a bit nicer to play, especially with the expanded text boxes
@puppy there are also other side games, i forget what they are but they haven't been remade yet, so you'll have to deal with shoving them onto a 3DS or using azahar to emulate them lol
@puppy if you want to get into the miles edgeworth investigation side games, i'd play that after the trilogy (and maybe after 4; nothing big but it does reference a few things about apollo justice)
and while i haven't played it yet, as far as i know, the great ace attorney chronicles games don't reference the other games, on the count of it taking place about a century before lol

but yeah uh, just start with the first one. i would suggest the remakes for more accessibility, but unlike... literally all the other remakes, it doesn't have more modern features (like message history or autoplay).
you can dive into any game in any order you want, since they have a soft rule of no spoilers for the previous game... but i wouldn't skip any of them tbh.
