Went down another autistic mini-fixation archive binge of animal biology, just love learning in general about all kinds of shit. Saw a random video post about a trapdoor spider, but was fascinated by it not looking like any trapdoor species I recall (none by name ofc). Then a comment on post made it click, it was actually a wolf spider that uses lids on their burrows for protection, not ambush predation!
This lead to a chain of link browsing between arachnids and wasps/ants, venom mechanism, predators, into anoles specifically....aaand to the point: I saw the section on anole dewlaps had a video footage of a VERY pronounced dewlap display....
Core memories unlocked of how when everyone else was getting funny feelings for hot furry chicks in games and wacky shenanigans in cartoons. I was...locked up as a kid. Imitating push-up displays from the anoles in the courtyard during rec hours.
S'anyways now I need to design an anole boyfriend OC because dayum why are dewlaps so darn...smexy.
