rambling...
I did go to school for graphic design since it was adjacent to my art hobby, and while I learned a lot that I still use, unfortunately it hasn't paid off. This is getting a bit more personal, but I think this was because I feel like art is the only thing I have ever been good at, so doing something adjacent was my only choice. I think I am in a position where that is not necessarily true, but it feels that way even after graduating. I guess some younger people also feel the same way about wanting to make art a business; they feel like it's all they can do? And honestly plenty of people have made art their careers in the past, and are chiefly remembered for it, so... Why do I feel disdain at the idea of doing it now?
