To do these things I am going to set little goals that build up to the big one. The Japanese learning would (hopefully) be a daily thing. I will have to do kana quizzes again. And my first goal is to get 90/100 for at least a week in a row. Then from there, start the vocabulary cards over. In between I will immerse with unsubbed anime for at least 1½ hours a day but ideally 2. The top goal right now is to pass the quiz on The Moe Way Discord to get the student role.
For the VNs, the first goal is just to finish writing Sonic vs. Dogs. It will be a straightforward kinetic VN so no choices. After that it would be putting it into Renpy, and then creating/finding art assets for it. This one would be done first, as Aurora Storm is longer and slightly more complex, with 1 choice. AS is already written though, which helps with time.
somewhat long winded discussion about hanahaki disease@ebi@bakersteak yes, the pretty metaphorical aspects of hanahaki are what keep me drawn in. Much like pop songs, fanfiction sure has a lot of ways to represent the twisty painful emotions of love. Though I think the tumblr post is right in that there can be fun applications without romance...
The alternative STD version is really intriguing, especially the part where its contagious. I'm already thinking idly about the kinds of relationship dynamics this would entail... Perhaps a marriage that has grown apart, or a fling between friends who are afraid to express deeper feelings.

I think everyone on my feed has more concrete thoughts about this and I didn't know how to weigh in without sounding and feeling stupid. Lots of these concepts are very abstract to me and being autistic I have a desire for more straightforward answers, not necessarily definitive and exact but more "these are the possibilities plainly laid out". I just think it varies a lot for person to person and scenario to scenario
really rambling post re: fiction/reality crossoverThe whole... Thing, with English spaces and their fervent need to relate fiction EXACTLY to real life is, so exhausting. Personally, I think paraphillia definitions are about real life attraction to existing things, otherwise I would just be everything under the sun to some extent. But like, no I am only interested in the Unreal, the Fantastical. Any of this stuff in real life is a no for me. There are probably circumstances and experiences that caused me to be this way as well as DNA or brain chemicals. It's just, very comolex stuff I think needs more research to be public.
People in the US latch on to art coming from a part of you deep inside and feel that it's super direct and obvious. The human brain is more complicated than that. It distinguishes fiction from non fiction by age 3-5.
Somewhere along the line (probably when tumblr became popular) American teens and young adults got obsessed with the idea of media representation. Like how minorities and such get portrayed. And I guess that bled over into internet art and writing. Cause they weren't grown up enough to have the emotional intelligence to understand disgust isn't the same as being in danger. And then were being exposed to all sorts of things that they didn't get right away. And education couldn't keep up.
I don't know where I'm going with this anymore. It's just tiring to think about how we got here and why. Ultimately I just want to enjoy loli shota + more in peace and share my passion. And I think the question of does fiction "affect" reality is not just a yes or no answer.

But in my opinion I don't think Sonic is likely to do that, if we're sticking as closely as possible to his canonical personality. (If anything it would be accidental; he is one track minded about getting something he wants and doesn't realize he is hurting someone he cares about in the process.) To be fair I don't think Tails would either, but I feel like we can twist his personality and circumstances easier to make it so.
This Tails would still be a lonely bullied boy, but also more obsessive. Maybe even greedy? He latches onto Sonic to an unhealthy degree. He wants him so dearly, and is insecure about losing him in any capacity.
Tails does various small things to manipulate Sonic's life. Subtly guiding him away from other people he deems as a threat to their relationship. Doing or saying things that make Sonic worried, make him think Tails would be in danger without him. Making each other more dependent.
Sonic wouldn't fully understand something is wrong. He would feel that things are off, but can't place why, so he thinks maybe he's just being paranoid... While Tails convinces himself what he's doing is for the good of them both. They belong together.
i'm talking about the grooming potential of Miles ProwerI feel like Tails is kind of too intelligent to be groomed. Even without being very social he would pick up on being manipulated in that way. So I think if he were being groomed he would intentionally be letting it happen.
Like, uh, if I imagine the scenario of him falling under Eggman's wing, (does this relationship have a name? FoxEgg? Let me know) I think that he understands how rotten and selfish Eggman is, how his "love" is conditional in a sense. But it's the only love he has ever been shown. He has low self confidence and respect, and he is more afraid of being alone than what he would become staying with Eggman. He he lets himself fall into these beliefs, maybe keeping some reservations.
There's a decent amount to explore with this scenario, I'll come back to it someday.

babycon f/m, amy/sonic (classic). wife husbandry vibesSomething happens to Sonic that de-ages him. Mentally, physically, the whole nine. He is now a baby, 100 days old. It's decided that amongst the friends Amy is the most well suited to take care of him. Which she does, nervously, but joyfully. She sets up her home to be safe for him, learns new recipes, etc.
It doesn't take long for things to get weird though. This is the closest Amy's ever been to Sonic, in any capacity. And, well, she is still a young hormonal girl. And a particularly volatile one... She holds him close, and smells him, and he smells really really good. So good, like sweet and sour sauce? Then she's licking his chest and belly before she knows it.
What a weird moment... But Sonic didn't seem to mind, he was laughing the whole time. So Amy doesn't need to think much of it, or how it made her feel hot and tingly. Or how she blushes when Sonic puts things in his mouth. Or how she keeps thinking about his warm, squishy body when she touches herself.
Are her feelings for Sonic getting all twisted and strange because he is always around now? Even though he's a baby? This is all too embarrassing to talk about with anyone else. So she just keeps it to herself, pretends everything is normal when others ask how she's doing.
There's not really a good reason for why things escalate. Her inhibitions disappear as they get into a routine. They eat, sleep, and play together. They hug and kiss, and touch each other until they both feel so happy.
Uh, oops! Turns out Sonic baby can't be reversed! He's just like this now. He keeps growing up with Amy, who is in this in between state of guilt and acceptance. She keeps telling herself, she'll stop someday and things will be normal. But also, she doesn't really want to stop. Just have Sonic all to herself, and grow up together for as long as they can. And eventually it gets to a point where Sonic is used to this relationship and wouldn't want to stop either. He loves Mama and all the fun stuff they do. So it continues.
Nobody suspects much. Aw, Isn't it cute? Amy and Sonic are so close! Oh, you have no idea!
@ebi yup, deviant art and ffn just don't have very good ways to tag things so it leads to things being both harder to find and avoid, and no one ever found a workaround for those sites' limitations. until newer sites came about. Kind of the issue of having everything and everyone tucked into one big space. Plus I think back in the 00's people didn't predict there would be so many niche fetishes and reacted indignant about things they didn't understand. Like a symptom of the internet being so new
@ebi Deviant Art. It was full of teens and young adults who had no etiquette about navigating fetishes and instead of being taught, people just yelled at them for being gross, or they got put into cringe compilations. So they feel the need to shove it in everybody else's faces as some form of solidarity.

@hearthunter admittedly, I read into her classic game character a lot and I read the Japanese manuals too so I probably think about this iteration of her more than other fans do. I don't know much about other iterations of the 90's since I'm mainly interested in game lore but I can imagine they tried to like, girlboss her or whatever.
Most Amy Rose fans are fans of her modern design/character which seems to keep changing every decade but I have never vibed with that version

She pokes him, not hard enough to puncture. His look appears to be mocking her. She gets angry at him, looking down on her again despite the situation they are in.
Tears begin to dart her eyes as she becomes more frustrated with her memories. Eventually, she thrusts her spear, and it goes through his gut. Then she twists and turns it inside and roughly pulls it out, stumbling a bit. Part of his intestines hang out from the large cut.
She trembles at this newfound power. She likes how it feels, but it overwhelms her. She thrusts her spear again, stabbing him many times in various places on his chest and belly. She's crying and yelling while doing so. By the time she stops, he is breathing shallow, blood coming from his mouth. The smell of the blood makes her feel sharper somehow. She gets closer to him, takes off his mouth cover, and kisses him before he can react. Really just licking the blood in his mouth. After she gulps, she decides she's had enough and leaves with her weapon. Eventually, he dies of blood loss or suffocating.
