re: Complaining about a Bluesky anti, very snarky and sarcastic@pubbybone every anti I've seen says that it's inherently intolerant of survivors of CSA, or potential minors who could get groomed into it. While it's true that minors (including when I was underaged too) could get groomed into that, this just like....idk, creates division between CSA survivors? Like we're partaking in the trauma olympics?? and then debating who's trauma is more valid and severe type stuff... and that using lolisho as a coping mechanism is somehow self harm and could retraumatize everyone else around us. This is what dead dove tags are for, and yet they refuse to listen to our CWs anyways udsyftyut
re: Complaining about a Bluesky anti, very snarky and sarcastic@pubbybone what is the paradox of tolerance? i've never heard of that term before ufiydsfitu but ya i hate that so many antis are hypocrites. They won't even bother to listen to their own advice about just blocking and moving on, DNI is basically just "Do not interact, but I am absolutely allowed to initiate interaction and attack you". I also hate the associations of lolisho and nazism too 😭 like on one hand, i DO notice theres a lot of nazis into it, but our views on freedom and speech and artistic expression are not the same??
What's the difference between an artist dealing with normal art block and regression vs an artist who can't draw at all due to having OCD? I always thought it was just my CPTSD preventing me, but they could probably be feeding into each other ; _ ;
re: CW long vent, anti logic, CSA and incest, dark shipping, sui baiting, murderSeriously, why are we morally grandstanding this 2000s cybergoth cartoon that caused moral panic and outrage? Due to exposing kids to dark humor and straight up gore??? "Fiction affects reality" affects the Invader Zim fandom as a whole, including Jhonen Vasquez!! Because shit like this happens and can be weaponized against us for creating or liking the show AT ALL:
re: CW long vent, anti logic, CSA and incest, dark shipping, sui baiting, murderJust to clear this up, their banner cuts off "kill yourself for realsies" and i think there's something very intentional with that. Because not only do they think it's funny putting that in their insane Jared Leto Joker banner, but also because they want to get away with suicide baiting ZADR shippers by making it hard to read with the text cut off iuydfiustyit
CW long vent, anti logic, CSA and incest, dark shipping, sui baiting, murderOH COME THE FUCK ON DUDE, YOU'RE PART OF THE PROBLEM!! You can't just one minute go "Wow your reading on Utena fucking sucks, that's not what the show is about" and then go around, telling people to kill themselves for shipping Zim and Dib romantically together usdyfsityf (That's what ZADR stands for, also???? JARED LETO JOKER??? REALLY!??!?!??)
If you want people to regain back their media literacy, you're gonna have to learn where these kinds of knee jerk responses come from in the first place. All this moral grandstanding in tumblr fandom culture abuses social justice like this. You're doing the exact same thing by reading any kind of fictional depiction of abuse as glorifying real life abuse.
Just because ZADR isn't canon and Jhonen Vasquez hates that ship himself, doesn't mean you can't separate fandom ships like this from media literacy either. I'm pretty sure any sane ZADR fan knows that there's a huge difference between liking a dark ship vs supporting real life toxic relationships. If a ZADR fan makes a cringy AMV to the Horror of our Love by Ludo, it isn't an invitation to allow destructive relationships to formulate IRL!! Just like Jhonen Vasquez was not inviting that one guy to cut open an old lady just because he liked the Dark Harvest episode on Invader Zim.
"It's okay to like stories with abuse in them, just so long as it isn't glorifying it!!" But see, that's the thing. Being so reactionary towards the media people create and consume is gonna create this problem, regardless how they're depicting the abuse. The obsession with puritizing media is going to destroy people's media literacy. That distinction of interpreting the art is going to disappear because you want all fiction to reflect real life. FICTION ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE REAL.
"It isn't a healthy coping mechanism to like fictional abuse, that's just self harm and you're retraumatizing others stfu!!!" but imagine if that same anti you're criticizing in your tumblr post told you that you can't like Utena anymore because it has incestuous abuse PERIOD. I have no idea who this Utena anti is, the only person that comes to mind is a certain youtuber who ironically enough, raped her actual sister when they were children. Imagine if she told you that you can't use Utena as a coping mechanism anymore to process your trauma under ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.
For the love of god, can people PLEASE stop throwing other victims of abuse under the bus????? PLEASE?!?!?!?
re: CW cancel culture discourseI hate how people like this abuse social justice language and think driving people to isolation is productive activism fiudsyfiuty it's such a misguided attempt to fix problems that are so deeply ingrained in our society, kicking someone off the internet doesn't do anything??????????????????????
CW cancel culture discourseI still think "cancel culture" as a concept is very out of touch with how capitalism works. It isn't real because rich people can get away with anything, no one gets seriously canceled if they're a celebrity. But what's actually the root of the problem is that "accountability culture" is barely constructive on how we should be holding people accountable for things.
"Accountability" is a concept that's been warped by bad faith actors who throw this term around like a form of therapy speak. It isn't productive to cyberstalk a bunch of people and go "look, I'm holding them accountable!!" People on the modern day internet don't actually KNOW what accountability is. Accountability is when you hold people responsible for their abusive actions, not when you try to deplatform them for any little thing that you don't like.
@Hexen@cookingsteak Ken Kurogane (who made Shoujo Sect) has a manga about an elementary school teacher who adopts one of her students and they live as a domestic couple!!
Does anyone know how I could meet more proshippers offline? I figure maybe irl kink spaces could help with that, I dug up an org someone emailed me that might help me connect to irl communities.
The only thing that makes me anxious is like ufisyfdiutt even with kinky people, there's still kink critical rhetoric that permeates our spaces. Like arguing the ethics of some kinks vs others. My queer kinky friends irl are anti lolisho because they see it as more riskier and problematic than... liking fictional incest or ships in toxic power dynamics RIP
re: CW lesbian discourse@CunnyGirlsMakeDo I see a lot of himejoshi blaming fujoshi for not having enough yuri/femslash content in fandom spaces due to BL/slash being more popular. Or that they're lesbophobic for caring more about M/M pairings than F/F. I understand that in fandom, there's still that scarcity esp with rare pairs. But I have noticed that when sapphic artists make their own cartoons and webcomics, there is just SO MUCH more now in comparison than before. I think it's amazing and we should put that same energy into fan art and fanfics. A lot of fujoshi are queer women themselves, so it's just...idk unnecessary fandom division.
